Prior to Gustavo Gimeno’s career as a conductor, he held the position of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra’s principal percussionist. In fact, it was with this very orchestra that he made his conducting debut in 2014 when stepping in for Mariss Jansons – so when Gustavo now takes his former colleagues on tour to Taiwan and Japan for the first two weeks of November, some very special concerts should be expected.

In Taipeh, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nagoya, Kanagawa and Tokyo, Gustavo conducts the RCO in programmes of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov, with the legendary sixth symphonies by the former and the exotic „Sheherazade“ by the latter. In addition, acclaimed pianist Yuja Wang will appear as the soloist in Tchaikovsky’s second piano concerto.
