On 21 September Gistavo Gimeno is kicking off the new season with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg. Following their successful start, 2016/17 features a number of eagerly awaited firsts such as Bruckner’s 7th Symphony, Stravinsky’s “Sacre”, Brahms 2nd Symphony, the world premiere of Francisco Coll’s “Mural” as well as Verdi’s “Simon Boccanegra” at the Grand Théâtre Luxembourg. The sheer breadth of the programme points to the never-ending challenge for an orchestra and its principal conductor of approaching different periods and styles in the best possible way.
