The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra ranges among the most revered ensembles worldwide – and used to be Gustavo’s home base as an orchestral musician. On 30 and 31st May, Gustavo will return to the orchestra for yet another special concert series, leading the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in a programme of Tchaikovsky and Barber. The US composer will be represented by the overture for his “School for Scandal”, the richly tectured “Knoxville: Summer of 1915” and two arias from “Vanessa” and “Antony and Cleopatra”. These works will be contrasted by Tchaikovsky’s Symphonic Fantasia “The Tempest” and his Overture Fantasy “Romeo and Juliet”. The vocal part will be covered by renowned soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek.
