In February, Gustavo Gimeno will conduct Patricia Kopatchinskaja and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg in the world premiere of Francisco Coll’s new Violin Concerto. Co-commissioned by the OPL, the Spanish composer wrote the piece as “a portrait of Kopatchinskaja” after meeting her and Gimeno in Valencia in 2016. “Like every portrait, it includes traces of its creator alongside unique and personal reflections on its subject”, says Coll about his composition. The Violin Concert will be framed by Maurice Ravel’s masterpiece “Tzigane. Rhapsody for Violin and Orchestra” and Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4, named „Romantic“ by Bruckner himself. The concert will take place on February 13, 2020 in Luxembourg and will be available on TAKT1 the streaming platform.
