From 16 to 25 June, Gustavo will lead a period of multi-faceted concerts including a short trip to Bavaria with the Wiener Symphoniker. Following his debut in 2017, Gustavo and the orchestra continue their cooperation, starting with concerts in Vienna on 16 and 18 June that feature multi-percussionist Martin Grubinger. He will accompany the orchestra for a two-concert trip to Bad Kissingen, performing John Corigliano’s “Conjurer” concerto on 21 June, succeeded as a soloist by pianist Khatia Buniatishvili on 22 June, performing Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No 1 with the orchestra. For a third concert in Bavaria, Gustavo and the orchestra will perform at the Richard-Strauss-Festival in Garmisch-Partenkirchen with a programme that represents Strauss with his Horn Concerto No. 1, presenting soloist Alessio Allegrini. A very special format is eventually taking place back in Vienna on 25 June: For “Im Klang”, Gustavo and the Wiener Symphoniker will perform Stravinsky’s Firebird-Suite not on the stage, but widely spread at the empty parterre of the hall – thus enabling the listeners to experience the music right in the middle of the musicians.
