In August, Gustavo Gimeno will conduct the European Union Youth Orchestra in three concerts in Grafenegg, Berlin and Bolzano, followed by two concerts with the Concertgebouworkest Young in Amsterdam and Hamburg. These tours are part of Gustavo Gimeno’s ongoing engagement to support the next generation of talented musicians.
With the EUYO, Gimeno will present a romantic program of Stravinsky’s Scherzo fantastique, op. 3, Strauss’ “Der Rosenkavalier” Suite and Ravel’s La Valse. Renowned violinist Renaud Capuçon will join them in a performance of Chausson’s Poème for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 25 as well as Saint-Saëns’s Havanaise Op. 83.
With the Concertgebouworkest Young, they will perform Francisco Coll’s Hímnica and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (From the New World). They are joined by acclaimed violinist Isabelle Faust for Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 61.
