April marks the beginning of an exciting new cooperation, as Gustavo Gimeno and the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg embark on a new partnership with the French record label harmonia mundi. The first joint project is a recording of Rossini’s Stabat Mater – featuring Maria Agresta (soprano), Daniella Barcellona (mezzo- soprano), Rene Barbera (tenor), and Carlo Lepore (bass) – which will be released on April 1st. Fall of 2022 will see a release of an album devoted to two ballets by Stravinsky (Firebird and Apollo), followed by several projects focusing on Dutilleux, Lutosławski and Szymanowski.

“All of us here are deeply committed to making the brilliant Luxembourg orchestra a welcome member of our family, which shares the same dedication to uncompromising standards, naturalness, and directness, aligned with a clearly expressed editorial focus,” explains Christian Girardin, the label’s head of production. “Future recordings will comprise an equal share of purely symphonic works alongside concerto repertoire involving collaborations with the label’s solo instrumentalists and will delve into the music written between the second half of the 19th century and today.”
