For his first appearance as chief conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, Gustavo Gimeno has chosen a programme consisting of works by Ligeti, Berg and Mahler. Alongside Ligeti’s Concert Românesc and Alban Berg’s „Sieben frühe Lieder“, to which soprano Anja Harteros is lending her celebrated voice, the orchestra will perform Gustav Mahlers First Symphony.
Not only will Gustav Mahler‘s first symphonies be the focus of Gustavo Gimeno’s inaugural season with the OPL; concerts will be programmed around the first symphonic works of Beethoven, Bruckner, Schumann and Shostakovich, as well as works by Rihm, Berg and Berio. Soloists include Isabelle Faust, Frank Peter Zimmermann and Leonidas Kavakos.
