2018 has quite some highlights in store for Gustavo, and the year kicks off with a luxuriously programmed tour with his Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg: From 19 to 28 January, the orchestra and its Music Director will guest at Munich, Friedrichshafen, Linz, Innsbruck, Essen and Baden-Baden. The music in store provides the orchestra with many opportunities to shine and show its full mastership: The varying programmes include extracts from Wagner’s opera “Tannhäuser”, “Don Juan” by Richard Strauss and two works by Debussy, “Iberia” and “La Mer”. The programmes are enriched by three of the finest soloists of their fields: Pianist Khatia Buniatishvili will stun the audience at Munich, Friedrichshafen and Linz with Liszt’s Piano Concerto No.2, violinist Baiba Skride shows her class in Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in e Minor in Innsbruck and soprano Anja Harteros radiates vocal splendour in Wagner’s “Wesendonck-Lieder” in Essen and Baden-Baden.
