Gustavo Gimeno starts the new season of the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg on September 16 by joining forces with Diana Damrau. The German soprano – celebrated worldwide for her lyric soprano and coloratura roles – will sing six songs by Richard Strauss, including one of his most popular works „Zueignung“.
The Strauss songs are framed by Anton Webern’s „Langsamer Satz“, composed originally as a string quartet, and Igor Stravinsky’s ballet music “The Firebird”. Written at the age of only 28, the work boasts an orchestration already replete with the colourful imagination so characteristic of Stravinsky.
Gimeno will also offer an outlook on the coming season during an artist talk at the Grand Auditorium at 19:15.
