This week, Gustavo Gimeno makes his first appearance with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra: On 7, 8 and 9 October, he will lead the acclaimed orchestra in a programme of Ligeti, Prokofiev and Rimsky-Korsakov.
The programme opens with György Ligeti’s Concert Românesc. Based on Romanian folk music, it marks the first performance of this piece for the orchestra. It is followed by Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2 with soloist Augustin Hadelich. The concerts close with Rimsky-Korsakov’s vividly colourful symphonic suite Scheherazade.
The final concert on 9 October is broadcast live in the Digital Concert Hall from 19:00 CEST.
