In November, Gustavo Gimeno makes his debut appearance with the San Francisco Symphony for a night of premieres and classics. Starting off the evening is the West Coast premiere of Unsuk Chin’s „Subito con Forza“, painting with the bold brush strokes of the avant-garde. It is followed by Mozart’s Piano Concerto Nr. 21 – performed by Spanish pianist Javier Perianes – and György Ligeti’s “Concert Românesc”, which offers an autobiographical snapshot of Ligeti’s childhood in Transylvania. The program closes with Felix Mendelssohn’s energetic „Italian“ Symphony, depicting lively scenes from his travels.
The concerts will take place on November 4, 5 and 7 at Davies Symphony Hall.
